Most trailers leave me cold when they promise a boring film or give too much away.
Then I watched this promo for Black Swan.
Female Rivalry.
A bitchy, demanding mother.
Dancing.
Desire.
One, please.

AND Vincent Cassell. Swoon…
I cannot wait.
On swans and dancers, you should check out this rendition of swan lake by the chinese circus
Sinead, the shot of him holding her in position is super hot.
Sara K, thanks for that. Amazing.
The cinematography for The Black Swan had me riveted from the start. And Barbara Hershey looks deranged in a hat tip to Joan Crawford. Love to see women fighting over art and not a freaking wedding dress.
This movie looks like it’s going to be faaaab-ulous! Can’t wait!

Natalie Portman and lesbian kissing? I think this will appeal to guys too.
Sara – WOW. When she stands on her pointe on his head – JE-SUS.
This will provide physio inspiration as I try to coax my sluggish muscles into being even 0001% as bendy as that.
Megan – And Winona is in it too. Can’t wait.
Oh Vincent. I heart thee.
I have loved him ever since Brotherhood of the Wolf, he is the thinking woman’s crumpet.
Cocktailsattiffanys, I’ll be first in line!
JJ, my use of the Chick Flick label was meant to be tongue-in-cheek. It’s a dismissive pejorative lots of folks use for movies about and starring women. Black Swan is no Bride Wars. Men will go to see it because Darren Aronofsky’s the director among other reasons.
Sinead, that’s right, she did flash by onscreen. Hope Winona’s not stuck playing somebody’s mother again!
Been waiting for this to be released here – does anyone know when that is ? Thanks
Will def be seeing this, probably with Jordan. And oh my word Sara, that was amazing.
Sinéad beat me to it!
Vincent Cassel is just glorious.
Alice, the release date for North America is December 3 but not until January 21 for Ireland & the UK. I swear not to give out any spoilers.
Arlene, this’ll be epic!
Lisa, Cassel grossed me out in that rape-is-a-game crap film he did with Jenny Aniston. But he looks dreamy in this.
Thanks Megan.
I can’t WAIT for this film. Ballet! Rivalry! Evil mothers! As I was saying to someone on Twitter recently, it’s like a Mandy or Bunty story for grown-ups. With added Vincent Cassell. And Winona, heroine of my youth. Anti-Room outing, anyone?
Anna, I was thinking how many echoes it has of classic films I adore, such as All About Eve, Now Voyager and The Snake Pit.
Looks fantastic.
I simply. Cannot. Wait.
I concur with all of the above. Saw the trailer during the summer and have been waiting with bated breath since. Looks dark and nasty yet sleek. Excited!
Edel & JK, saw the trailer before the first screening of Love and Other Drugs. Jake & Anne oozed chemistry, if you like a good romance.
Ok, this looks like utter trash. But fun trash. The kind you’d watch on a plane because you’ve already seen the entire season of (say) ‘In Treatment’ they’re also offering. Can I have two Jamesons please? Ice, yes, please, that’d be lovely.
